All Airlines suck.
So you want to buy two seats for one big person to have more space on a transatlantic flight in economy class?
I just called a few airlines and got nearly identical results: You have to pay two seats but only one times the taxes. (United, Lufthansa, US Airways)
Well if e.g. one seat costs about 1100$ (800+tax) you’ll have to pay 1900$ in total.
While it might feel right to bill the double price to someone who takes two seats it’s still ugly because I could just buy only one single seat and annoy up to two other passengers of the airline (excluding myself).
I bet up to three angry customers are more expensive to the airline on the long term than just giving a 50% discount for big people on the second chair or an upgrade to C or something other.
